Valentine’s Day is approaching and it’s another famous holiday for couples to get engaged, married, or renew their vows. Seeing same-sex or gender neutral valentines at the stores is very comforting. Valentine’s Day is for everyone, especially lovers. So if you are planning a wedding, why not incorporate some February 14th themes into your wedding. But let’s not go overboard with the heart and pink themes. Too tacky, even at a wedding, will not go unnoticed. But if tacky is your thing, it’s your wedding, so go for it.

I pulled out a glass vase that said “Celebrate Life” on it and pink-colored glass stones with variations of hearts, sparkly ones, and clear diamonds.
Questions to Consider:
How much color is too much? How many things of one theme is too tacky? Hearts, hearts, hearts, yes, we get that you are in love, but too many hearts looks too much like Valentine’s Day when it’s really your WEDDING day.

Good Advice:
So how can you decorate with the love theme without people gagging? Hearts don’t have to be everywhere. If they are on your invitations, then they may also appear on your cake and name cards OR table markers OR centerpieces. But not on napkins, gifts, tables, hanging items, chocolates, glasses, what have you. Less is more and when something is simple and subtle the message is well received. Same with your theme color. It could appear with white and sometimes with black or a shade lighter or darker. Bring in more shades without adding an entirely new color.
