Congrats to Patrick Jeffrey and John Waymire! You are a beautiful couple and your love for each other shines through in these amazing wedding photos. Thank you Cayce Callaway Photography for sharing these beautiful wedding shots with us!
Patrick and John got hitched on August 14, 2016 (the exact day of their 13th anniversary) at Primrose Cottage in Roswell, Georgia with 157 guests in attendance. John shared his wedding details with us and his advice to other same-sex couples planning a wedding.
How did you decided on your photographer:
Cayce Callaway has been the photographer for The Suzi Bass Awards (Atlanta’s version of the Tony Awards for Metro-Atlanta Professional Theatre) since it began in 2003. I had worked closely with her over the years as the Judging Coordinator for them. She also did the photography for the grand opening of my Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Home Furnishings Showroom in Alpharetta in 2014. She specializes in both wedding and boudoir photography.
Favorite memory from your wedding:
Patrick and I met at a Queer as Folk DVD signing for the release of the second season at Borders Bookstore in Atlanta, GA when I was a manager there back in 2003. We had Randy Harrison, Robert Gant and Hal Sparks from the show signing DVDs. Last year when Hal Sparks was performing at the Improv here in Atlanta around our 12th Anniversary we met him again and told him about the upcoming wedding. He immediately offered to officiate. It was his first wedding and it was really amazing to have him there since he was there the night we met. He mixed laughter with the serious nature of the occasion. He really drove home how lucky we were that almost our entire family were there and such huge supporters of us over the years. We are very lucky in that regard.
Advice to other same-sex couples planning their wedding:
Be yourself upfront. If you feel like someone is just showing you their venue, or telling you about their service because they legally have to, then go with your instincts. If you don’t immediately feel welcomed and special then they probably aren’t wanting to deal with a same-sex couple. Anytime you get that “And the bride is where?” feeling, just ask if it is a problem and move elsewhere if needed. We were thrilled with the venue and staff we chose. They really hadn’t done a big gay wedding before and this was a more traditional antebellum location but everyone was very sweet.
Did you and your husband honeymoon immediately after your wedding or did you postpone it:
Due to my work in retail management we took a week off around the wedding for planning, the rehearsal and the event and then waiting a month to go on our honeymoon.
Where did you honeymoon:
We went to London, England for eight days. It was our first time there and we had lots of fun seeing all the sights, attending a few shows and going to many of the bars and clubs around town.
Any other details you’d like to share:
We had custom bobbleheads made for our cake topper. I also used Fivvr on Facebook to have a cartoon of us made from a photo. We used that in our Save the Dates, Wedding Invite and on decks of playing cards that were part of our party favors the night of the wedding. That was pretty special.
Patrick and John, we cheers to you and love, laughter and happily ever after! xoxoxo
