Gay-Friendly Wedding Hotels & Accommodations

Do you have family or friends that live out of town? It’s not always easy to get everyone together for a wedding when some families have to travel across the country. Finding hotel accommodations for weddings can make it easier for the out-of-towners.

  • Reserve a block of hotel rooms. Many hotels offer discounts when a group of hotel rooms is booked together. This can save your guests some money and ensure everyone from out of town has a place to stay.
  • If you choose to reserve a block of hotel rooms, inquire about their shrinkage clause. This will protect you against being penalized for not filling every room that you reserved. Some guests may not be able to make it or may not need accommodations. Most hotels will allow a shrinkage of 10 to 20%. This equates to 1 or 2 un-booked rooms for every 10 rooms reserved.
  • Find local hotels that are conveniently located near your reception. If your chosen venue is at a hotel, inquire about rates for wedding guests and availability. Otherwise, create a list of hotels, along with phone numbers and distance from the ceremony and reception. You can add this list to your wedding website or email it as needed to distant guests.
  • Consider inviting out of town guests to the rehearsal dinner. This not always necessary, but some families may think of it as a tradition. Also, remember to especially thank guests that had to travel a great distance for coming to your wedding.

Finding gay-friendly accommodation for your wedding will give your out of town guests one less hassle.
