Getting Married in Atlanta

With one of the biggest and best Pride Fest’s in the United States, it’s no wonder Atlanta is known as the epicenter of the LGBT south.

Hosting your same-sex wedding in Atlanta gives you endless possibilities of awesome hotels, B&B’s, private dining options and more. Atlanta offers your wedding guests plenty of things to do, whether they are looking for family friendly activities like the Atlanta Zoo and their world class Aquarium, or arts and culture and history. And with the country’s busiest airport, your out of town guests won’t have trouble finding a flight.

We recommend taking some of your wedding photos in front of The Center for Civil and Human Rights, the stunning Atlanta History Center, Piedmont Park, The Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Georgia State Capital Building or Atlantic Station.

Incorporating the color peach in your wedding attire or a peach inspired signature drink are ways to deck out your same-sex wedding in Georgia flare.

The History of Same-Sex Marriages in Atlanta

Same-sex marriage has been legally recognized in Georgia since June 26, 2015, when SCOTUS ruled in favor of the freedom to marry in the case Obergefell v. Hodges, ending marriage discrimination throughout the nation.

Atlanta Pride happens in October each year.

According to The Williams Institute’s analysis of the 2010 U.S. Census, 21,318 same-sex couples are living in Georgia, representing 5.9 same-sex couples per 1,000 households. Of those couples, the Institute estimates that fifty percent (10,659 couples) would choose to marry in the first three years. The same-sex marriages that would occur in the first year alone would bring over $50.4 million in revenue to the state of Georgia.
