On October 6th, 2014, the United States Supreme Court voted to deny the review of a pro-marriage order from the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. However, on October 13th, US District Court Judge Max O. Cogburn ruled in favor of granting same-sex couples the freedom to marry.
